Playa La Caleta
This beach is part of my daily walks with my dog, Freeman. Tucked away in a small bay between Forte San Sebastian and the Castillo Santa Catalina (haha, like me), small small fishing boats get stuck on the sand on low tide and make me think of Brittany in France. The old Balneario Real gives this beach a “Belle Epoque” look, but now it’s a museum. It’s the summer spot for the local Gaditano, the meeting point for any opportunity to party, celebrate birthdays, sunbathing, card playing, bingo and singing. Weekends on Caleta beach is an awesome site as the sandy shore becomes a village of multi-coloured umbrellas.
OTHER BEACHES AROUND CADIZ
The Santa Maria beach is much larger and close to the citygate flat. The Caleta beach is on walking distance from the Columela loft.
